About The Position

The Perioperative/Operating Room Registered Nurse initiates a plan of care based on identified medical, surgical and nursing diagnosis that is consistent with knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, human behavior and outlined standards of care in the Operating Room (O.R.). He/she directs and coordinates with other departments and ancillary personnel to provide a safe environment and a high standard of quality care. The Perioperative Registered Nurse provides nursing care to surgery patients and supervises personnel in these and related activities. Supervises the care given to assigned patient in a single O.R. unit, and has charge of patient safety, provision of supplies and equipment, and maintaining asepsis. What You'll Do: Carefully asses and monitor the physical status of the patient. Collect and record necessary data through patient interviews, significant other, observation, review of records, review of diagnostic results, review of physician documentation and consultation with physician and others. Utilizes this information appropriately in planning and delivering patient care. Actively listens to the patient and provides appropriate responses, and is aware of the importance of determining the patients perception of their needs and their care pertinent to the surgical procedure. Identifies interventions necessary for expected outcomes based on specific surgery, illnesses, injury or disease, behavior and O.R. standard of care. Anticipates potential problems and adapts to surgical procedure, and sets priorities in emergencies, changes in patient status and unusual occurrences. Demonstrates competency to create and maintain a sterile field. Anticipates the need for equipment and supplies before the case begins. Demonstrates knowledge of expected outcome of surgery and the Anesthesia drugs. Evaluates nursing intervention in relation to established expected outcomes. Reassesses status identifying unresolved problems and implements revised plan of care by communicating the reassessment. American Heart Association BLS certification required. American Heart Association ACLS certification preferred. Minimum of two years experience in operating room required. Ability to work effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and ancillary departments. Job Information: Full-time, 12 hour varied shifts. Starting wage $55.68 to $67.49 based on qualifications. Requirements
