About The Position

Responsibilities: Responsible for delivery of resident care through use of the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.  Directs and guides patient teaching, activities of the ancillary personnel, while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions. Develops, implements, and evaluates formal plan of care. Updates plan of care as needed. Intervenes with proper techniques, procedures, and safety precautions to meet individual needs. Implements medical plan through administration of medication and documenting appropriately. Functions within the limits of Kentucky Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies/procedures. Administers medications and blood products as appropriate per the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies/procedures. Provides education as needed, including the use of community resources. Assists in discharge planning as indicated. Develops and maintains professional, courteous relationships with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers. Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy. Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents and staff. Transports residents to other departments as needed. Assists and performs assignments as required. Keeps current on activities of the hospital/nursing facility through regular attendance of staff meetings, in-service training, and other educational programs as indicated. After receiving appropriate training, performs duties of ancillary departments as indicated: Respiratory Therapy – Mini-Neb Treatments, O2 set ups and maintenance, croup tent set up and maintenance, EKGs, and pulse oximetry. Physical Therapy – Whirlpool therapy, traction set up and maintenance. Participates in facility’s performance improvement initiatives as directed. Maintains KBN requirements for active licensure. Assists in the orientation of new staff as needed. Participates in committees and other activities that promote the organization’s mission and goals. Strives for excellence in resident care. As necessary, challenges and/or corrects errors of peers to ensure resident safety and well-being. Qualifications: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse Licensure BLS Certification
