Requirements

  • 1 year experience in OR
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License from a Compact State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire and renewal every two years
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification-Employees will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years

Responsibilities

  • Care for patients with Arterial Catheters
  • Care for patients with chest tubes
  • Provide appropriate care of Electrosurgery in Perioperative patients
  • Adhere to AORN Standards for Providing Patient Care in Perioperative Services
  • Promote prevention of surgical skin infections
  • Appropriately apply oxygen therapy to patients
  • Position patients appropriately during surgery; understanding of HAPI prevention
  • Perform Preoperative Assessment
  • Maintain Radiation Safety
  • Appropriately perform Surgical Safety Checklist
  • Perform Hand Hygiene Surgical Scrub
  • Perform Surgical Time Out
  • Understand how to prevent Postoperative Complications
  • Use appropriate interventions to prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis in Patients
  • Perform blood transfusions
