Job Summary: Insight is looking for a compassionate and team-oriented Operating Room (OR) Circulator , to join our Medical Staff in order to provide patient care second to none! As an OR Circulator, your expertise and dedication to patient care will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency during surgical procedures. We rely on your dedication and meticulousness to uphold a clean and hygienic environment, oversee operations in the operating room, and prioritize the well-being of patients throughout their entire journey in the OR, ensuring a smooth transition to the recovery area. Requirements

  • Current RN (Registered Nurse) license in the state of practice
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
  • Minimum of one year experience as an OR circulator in an acute care setting
  • Thorough understanding of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Capable of making quick and accurate decisions
  • Proficient in the use of electronic health record systems
  • Knowledge of operating room standards and practices
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and assist in lifting and positioning patients
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advancements in perioperative nursing practices

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions
  • Coordinate with surgeons to understand procedure-specific needs and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available
  • Conduct preoperative patient assessments, verify surgical site and procedure with the surgical team, and assist with patient positioning
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and actively monitor the sterile field throughout surgical procedures
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
  • Monitor and anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instruments and supplies promptly
  • Manage the proper function of surgical equipment and instruments, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel
  • Ensure proper handling and labeling of specimens collected during surgery for laboratory analysis
  • Implement safety protocols to protect the patient, including verification of surgical site and patient identity
  • Administer medications and solutions as required under the supervision of the anesthesiologist or surgeon
  • Document perioperative care accurately in the patient’s medical record, including any medication given and the patient's response
  • Oversee the environmental control of the operating room, including temperature, humidity, and lighting
  • Assist with the transfer of patients to the recovery area and provide a report to the receiving staff
  • Participate in post-operative debriefing
  • Other duties as assigned
