About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at the Nashville Veterans Affairs Medical Center is responsible for providing and supervising direct patient care, ensuring quality and safety in the surgical environment. Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a U.S. state or territory.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and background investigation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in perioperative nursing or surgical settings.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Knowledge of electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide and supervise direct patient care in the Operating Room.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care based on age-specific needs.
• Coordinate patient care transitions and educate patients and families.
• Administer medications and procedures according to established guidelines.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to improve care outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement processes and customer service initiatives.
