About The Position

The Perioperative Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN), is accountable for patient outcomes resulting from the nursing care for the patient undergoing a surgical/invasive procedure. The perioperative OR RN plans, directs and coordinates the care of every patient undergoing operative and other invasive procedures, taking into consideration respect for the individual and recognition of the important contribution that each team member makes to the patient's well-being

Requirements

  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of professional nursing practice and the ability to apply the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with close supervision.
  • Works with close supervision, is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and seeks direction from others as needed.
  • Manages workload as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner.
  • Knowledge of Veteran/patient driven care, patient experience, satisfaction, and safety.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and follows established policies of the practice setting, VA, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Awareness of evidence-based practice/research to improve quality of care and resource utilization.
  • Applies evidence-based practice/research to patient care.
  • Manages nursing care of patients, organizes, and completes own assignments in a safe and timely manner, assisting team members as necessary.
  • Applies high reliability principles and I CARE values to improve patient outcomes.
