Uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. Assesses, monitors, detects, plans and takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications and promotes optimal level of health. Accountable for integrating care within scope of practice licensure, relevant education and experience. Reports to shift Team Leader and is accountable to the Department Manager. Utilizes Policies and Procedures to guide job duties. Level specific criteria are evaluated annually and can be found in the MNM Clinical Ladder. This role involves clinical expertise, collaborating with other members of the health care team to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized written plan of care based upon a physiological, psychosocial, spiritual assessment consistent with patient/significant other’s changing needs & goals, utilizing the Clinical Practice Model (CPM) and the “Caring-Quality Model.” The nurse is expected to seek life-long learning through certification, advanced practice, higher education, and literature review, and demonstrate leadership by sharing knowledge, being a clinical resource, and a professional role model. Effective communication through collegial relationships, SBAR, and interdisciplinary communication is essential. The position also requires enhanced time management skills and the ability to assist others to contribute to the overall performance of the team.
