Located in Baltimore's cultural center near the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, UMMC Midtown Campus is a 180-bed, community teaching hospital with a focus on helping people manage chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.; BSN preferred. Up-to-date status on all mandatory training and classes.
  • One year nursing experience. Solid knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education every two years.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients in the operating room setting
  • Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures
  • Ensure proper functioning and availability of surgical equipment and supplies
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition during surgery
  • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols
  • Participate in patient education and discharge planning
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts
  • Stay current with advances in surgical techniques and perioperative nursing practices
