About The Position

Horizon Surgery Center South located on the Baptist Medical Center South campus is an ambulatory surgery center in Jacksonville, Florida, focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered outpatient care. This center provides Orthopedics, ENT, Plastics and Urology surgeries (2OR) and procedures (2PR). The Operating Room RN provides direct patient care and serves as a patient advocate throughout the perioperative process. This role supports surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity before, during, and after surgery.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or equivalent; one year of OR experience required (Ortho scopes and total joints)
Current RN license
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills
Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs routinely and up to 100 lbs occasionally
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Windows environment)

Responsibilities

Serve as circulating nurse, supporting patients, surgeons, and anesthesia staff during procedures
Ensure patient safety and compliance with aseptic and surgical standards
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team
Participate in quality improvement, safety, and professional development activities
Assist with orientation and training of new team members
Maintain accurate documentation and respond appropriately to patient and physician needs
