About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Rochester, NY. The ideal candidate is a skilled perioperative nurse with strong technical expertise across multiple surgical specialties and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room experience
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • BLS certification (required)

Nice To Haves

  • CNOR certification (preferred)
  • Experience with Epic charting system (preferred)
  • General OR and scrub experience
  • Orthopedic and Spine procedures (Total Joints, Fusions, Arthroscopy)
  • Neurosurgery procedures (Craniotomy, Cervical/Lumbar Fusions, VP Shunt)
  • Vascular procedures (AAA repair, endovascular interventions)
  • General Surgery (Laparoscopic, Mastectomy, Whipple procedures)
  • GYN and Urology surgeries
  • Robotic surgery experience – Da Vinci Xi (preferred)
  • Trauma and emergency surgical response

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care throughout all phases of surgery
  • Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and supplies according to procedure requirements
  • Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control, radiation, and laser safety standards
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by functioning as circulator and/or scrub nurse
  • Perform accurate surgical counts and ensure proper specimen handling
  • Monitor patient safety, positioning, and physiological status during procedures
  • Respond effectively to trauma and emergency surgical cases
  • Document perioperative care accurately in the electronic health record (Epic preferred)
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary surgical teams
  • Advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes throughout the surgical process
