About The Position

As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the Registered Nurse (RN) functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. The RN is responsible for providing safe, family-centered patient care, utilizing the Nursing Care Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the patient, patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. The role may also involve supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Additionally, the RN assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating initiatives such as Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, and Workforce Community and Connection into daily work. Requirements

  • Active Washington State RN license
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • One year of perioperative nursing experience or successful completion of a perioperative course and 6 months of additional RN circulating experience
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association Health Care Provider, American Safety and Health Institution Professional Level or American AED/CPR Association - Professional Rescuer)
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) is mandatory within 90 days of hire (training provided during orientation) and must be maintained as current thereafter

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Pediatric health care nursing experience

Responsibilities
