About The Position

Northern Nevada Medical Center is looking for a dynamic Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient populations in the OR arena. This position involves addressing the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical and Pain Center environment. The RN will communicate continuously with the surgeon and anesthesiologist about patient conditions, assist with the maintenance of surgical equipment and pain management inventory, and participate in performance improvement activities. The RN will also assess the operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtain supplies for individual cases, and ensure all appropriate needs of the surgical operating team are met. Additionally, the RN will monitor, position, and assist patients during procedures.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada.
• At least one year Operating Room experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR.
• Approaches patient in a kind, gentle, and friendly manner.
• Responds to patient's inappropriate behavior in a therapeutic manner.
• Takes appropriate actions and documents in response to manifested anxiety or distress.
• Requests Social Service/Pastoral Care as appropriate.
• Gives patient explanations and verbal reassurances consistently.
• Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate actions in a timely manner.
