About The Position

This position is Sign On Bonus Eligible Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Oncology Department. The Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Oncology floor is a 15-bed dedicated unit caring for patients with cancer who live in the many communities along the Central Coast of California. Nurses are trained and certified to administer chemotherapy/biotherapy and half of the staff are Oncology Certified Nurses. We are committed to providing excellent patient care in a supportive and nurturing environment and we are especially proud of our close collaboration with our oncologists, the Palliative Care team, and other departments and staff. QUALIFICATIONS: All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Acute care experience within the last two years.
  • Previous experience with medical technology/equipment as needed based on assigned patient care unit.
  • Respects various points of view.

  • Communicates clearly and requests clarification when needed.
  • Applies experience and judgment to organization situations, set priorities and use abstract thought to understand the relevance of clinical situations.
  • Accurately recognizes potential emergency/rapidly changing situations (immediate problems of routine patients) and takes life sustaining or other appropriate steps to manage situations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles, theories, and practices, including infection control with demonstrated clinical expertise in area of practice.
  • Knowledge of administration of prescribed medications and treatments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree.
  • Training and experience in Chemo/Bio card and Oncology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process in collecting data and performing nursing care interventions on an on-going basis. (10%)
  • Documents all required information in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner, such as patient care changes and updating plan of care. (10%)
  • Delivers quality care in an organized manner within the scope of practice. (20%)
  • Coordinates, orders, and meets multiple patient needs and requests within acceptable time frame by managing workflow utilizing team resources. (30%)
  • Monitors and ensures the quality of healthcare practices, such as the safe implementation of standards of care and accessing process improvement when needed in a manner compliant with The Joint Commission, HIPAA and Title 9 Regulations (DHCS). (30%)
