The CB2 unit specifically serves the medical oncology population, including patients with solid tumor cancers, hematological cancers, acute leukemia, lymphoma, and benign hematology, as well as providing hospice and end-of-life care. The unit also accommodates med-surg overflow patients when appropriate. Nurses on this unit work in collaborative, diverse environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focusing on a patient-centered care model. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse applies evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and medical staff directives. The role involves using the nursing process to develop and implement a plan of care that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of patients and their families.
