Registered Nurse - Oncology
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in the Oncology/Infusion Center, delivering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and oncology treatments to adult patients with malignancies. The RN educates patients and families, monitors treatment responses, and ensures safe, evidence-based care. Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services.
Requirements
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Nice To Haves
- Oncology Nursing Certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and oncology treatments safely.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Educate patients and families on cancer treatments, side effects, and supportive care.
- Monitor patient responses and manage adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in EHR following oncology standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and care teams.
- Support Cancer Registry Services with accurate treatment data.
