About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Obstetrics (OB RN), within their scope of licensure and under the general supervision of the Clinic Supervisor, utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking to provide care to our Reproductive/Women’s Health patients. The OB RN performs daily clinical duties and functions as a resource to department staff. This position treats and educates patients and the public about various medical conditions, prenatal/postpartum care, sexually transmitted infections and provides advice and support to patients and their family members.

Requirements

  • Active and unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse licensure required; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible, relevant experience in an ambulatory setting.
  • Experience with EMR; Athena Health EMR experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience, excellent customer service skills, and team building and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure, detail oriented, organized, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills; knowledgeable of office procedures and patient flow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Athena Health EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Triage phone calls and walk-in patients for acuteness of need and/or priority of intervention; document assessment information of all activities.
  • Perform clinical nursing functions that may include but are not limited to, blood draws, IV insertion and IV fluid/medication administration per provider order, suture/staple removal, foley catheter insertion/removal/management, wound care, coumadin management, staff training, vaccinations, perform nurse visits (scheduled and walk-ins).
  • Inform patients of abnormal lab test and imaging results.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients and provide patient education on various health-related conditions to individuals and groups of patients.
  • Administer injections and screens as ordered/prescribed by providers.
  • Provide support and education to LPNs and Medical Assistants including mentoring, training, and oversight in basic skills and procedures, testing knowledge base, and giving in-services.
  • Participate in implementation of clinical programs for patients with chronic conditions.
  • Oversee the operation, accountability for, and maintenance of clinic equipment.
  • Participate in orientation of newly hired clinicians.
  • Provide back up in checking in patients and scheduling patient appointments.
  • Maintain familiarity with the complex needs of the patient population that includes multiple medical, social, and psychosocial barriers in achieving and maintaining wellness and stability.
  • Attend staff and in-service meetings; participate in agency committees and task force activities.
  • Comply with all Aviva Health policies and procedures, especially with regards to HIPAA.
  • Comply with attendance policies and procedures with regards to punctuality and reliability.
