About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY Responsible to Manager for overall nursing practice. Nursing care of the neonate is directed toward supporting transition to extra uterine life and facilitating integration into the family unity through use of the nursing process. This includes the responsibility for assessment of the neonate's needs, development of the plan of care to meet those needs, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of nursing care based on outcomes of the neonate and family unit. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required; BSN preferred Experience: Previous RN experience preferred. Charge qualified preferred. Experience in antepartal, neonatal, obstetrical and/or pediatric nursing preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Effectively functions as a team member and as a liaison between patient and staff. Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills. Job requires strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills. Communicates in highly professional manner at all times. Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. License/Certification/Registration: Current Pennsylvania RN licensure. Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years. Within one year of the hire/transfer date meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and renews PALS every two years. Within one year from the hire/transfer date, completes the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and renews NRP every two years. Relevant certification preferred upon hire. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Receives minimal supervision from the Manager. SUPERVISION GIVEN The Registered Nurse will only have supervision of others while serving as Charge Nurse. Requirements
