About The Position

The Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCS) is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to serve as the Night Shift Nurse Officer of the Day. This role involves overseeing the delivery of patient care during night shifts, ensuring continuity of care, and managing nursing staff in the absence of management. The Nurse Officer of the Day will collaborate with healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes and will be responsible for various administrative and clinical duties.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S.
  • Proficiency in English language, both written and spoken.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • 3-5 years in transfer coordination and bed management
  • 3-5 years of acute care experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with NHPPD and safe staffing ratios
  • Experience with quality indicators regarding measurements and outcomes
  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize the delivery of care to ensure continuity of care, including access to care and discharge planning.
  • Communicate clinical knowledge and judgment to promote self-involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and departmental processes.
  • Collaborate with staff to incorporate professional standards of care and evaluate programs and service activities.
  • Assume authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees during weekends, holidays, and after-hours tours.
  • Provide programmatic outcomes to nursing leadership to assist with improving organizational processes and patient care delivery.
