About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Texas Health Plano. Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas communities since 1991, specializing in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit, and technologically advanced surgical services. It is a Level II Trauma Facility, the only health care facility in Collin County with both Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designations, and has a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. The hospital is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, features the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, and is accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement and a Primary Heart Attack Center. The NICU department is a 45-bed Level IV unit caring for babies as early as 22 weeks gestation, emphasizing family-centered care with a new family center, strong staff engagement, and leadership support for staff growth and development through the NCAP program.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days required
  • NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 90 days and maintained annually required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • 2 years of NICU experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
