The available plans and programs include: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match Generous paid time off Career development and continuing education opportunities Health savings accounts, healthcare & dependent flexible spending accounts Employee Assistance program, Employee discount program Voluntary benefits include pet insurance, legal insurance, accident and critical illness insurance, long term care, elder & childcare, auto & home insurance Note : Eligibility for benefits may vary by location and is determined by employment status ESSENTIAL / PRIMARY DUTIES (The essential job functions or primary responsibilities that must be performed unaided or with the assistance of an accommodation - all job functions should begin with an action verb) General Functions: Plans and implements actions appropriate to: Surgery GI Lab Ambulatory Surgery Post Anesthesia PACU Department Functions: • Assesses, initiates and documents patient care based on initial assessment and reassessment through the continuum of care • Identifies need for education of patient, family and/or significant other and provides education and discharge planning through individualized instruction, the use of written materials and/or other available resources. • Assigns nursing care to licensed staff and delegates nursing care to unlicensed staff and coordinates flow of work • Coordinates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in the planning and management of patient care • Maintains and promotes professional standards and development by participating in inservices, committees, and staff meetings • Manages patient hand-offs internally and between departments; utilizes the standardized process and tools to accomplish efficient hand-offs. • Provides every patient the defined standard of care (ie; core measures, SCIP, Universal Protocols) • Facilitates patient throughput • Serves as a role model for compassionate care and service excellence and commits to Studer Principles and “must haves” • Recognizes changing patient condition and utilizes unit resources, chain of command and Rapid Response Team (RRT) in a timely and appropriate manner. • Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively • Maintains safe environment • Addresses patient population-specific needs • Participates in Performance Improvement activities This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus. Position Summary Under minimal supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatric, within the nurse's competencies following established standards and practices. Supports the mission statement, policies and procedures of the Baptist Health System. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse or currently eligible for state board certification.
  • BLS - Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role for all Surgical Services areas.
  • AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role for Post Anesthesia Care Unit for licensed staff that care for Pedi. This includes the following facilities: North Central Baptist, St. Luke's Baptist, Westover Hills Baptist and Resolute Baptist Hospital.

  • Surgery - CNOR Board eligible/certified
  • Post Anesthesia-CPAN Board eligible/certified
  • GI Lab -SGNA Board eligible/certified
