Requirements

  • Associates degree in Nursing.
  • In the process of sitting for the NCLEX and receiving a current Tennessee Registered Nurse license or another compact state.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition in collaboration with a licensed preceptor.
  • Establish a plan of care appropriate to problems identified and involve the patient according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments under the direct supervision of a licensed preceptor.
  • Document patient care given under the direct supervision of a licensed preceptor.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family under direct supervision of a licensed preceptor.
  • Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs under direct supervision of a licensed preceptor.
  • Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances under direct supervision of a licensed preceptor.
  • Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
