About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in a neurosurgical general care unit at Mayo Clinic, specializing in care for patients who have undergone neurosurgical procedures and those with traumatic brain injuries. The unit has a capacity of 25 beds and has been recognized as a top performer in customer service by Professional Research Consultants (PRC) for the past six years, indicating a strong commitment to delivering excellent quality of care. Newly graduated nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience will automatically be enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program, which includes an extensive orientation program for all new hires, regardless of their experience level. The RN will be responsible for coordinating nursing care, providing direct patient care, educating patients and families, and managing transitions of care. The role requires adherence to the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, emphasizing accountability in all phases of nursing care. The RN will also engage in leadership activities, mentoring, and quality improvement efforts, and may need to drive their personal vehicle as part of their responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and teach others.
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred, especially in neurosurgery or trauma care.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate nursing care for assigned patients.
