Neuro Trauma Surgical Progressive Care Unit
The Adult Neuro/Trauma and Surgical Progressive Care Unit is a fast-paced 24 bed step down, high acuity unit with a talented team! The complex patient population provides opportunities for continuous growth in your nursing skills and abilities. This unit serves to help stabilize patients until ready to transfer to a medical surgical unit or leave the facility.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
Highly specialized assessment skills
Excellent time management
Prioritization of care
Adept communication with the multidisciplinary team
Excellent critical thinking
Wound management
Lumbar drain management
Care of patient on an epilepsy monitoring unit
Management of multiple drains/tubes
Pain management
Care of the stroke patient/NIHSS certification

Requirements

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
