About The Position

The Surgical Media Tech Assistant supports all technical, audio-visual, clinical integration, and technology requirements for the AdventHealth Orlando Neuro surgical department. Supports the technology requirements and technical project and integration teams of the AdventHealth Orlando campus surgical facility and all audio-visual, Integration, Navigation and other future surgical technology, of AdventHealth surgical venues. Follows all rules and regulations that are applicable to local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The Surgical Media Tech Assistant will also work under supervision of the professional nurse, assisting in performing specific duties and activities for surgical patients of all age groups. This position is considered an advanced ancillary role in which the employee has completed additional training and maintains competency in additional role specific related duties which may include but are not limited to supply management, case preparation, and equipment set up, and troubleshooting. May also work under supervision of Surgical Scrub and/or Surgeon to pass instruments at sterile field. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing
  • Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements
  • EKG

Responsibilities

  • Involves and supports management with all technology integration, audio-visual, and media production initiatives.
  • Ensures all technology equipment is in working order, is maintained and serviced appropriately.
  • Works with management and MD clients to identify and assist in the procurement of all clinical and technology equipment for training and education courses.
  • Performs other duties/projects as assigned or directed to ensure the efficient operation of the OR suites and team.
  • Assists with equipment management.
  • Ensures safe transport, transfer, and positioning of patients utilizing good body mechanics.
  • Maintains patient privacy and dignity at all times.
  • Participates in the preparation of the patient for procedures as directed by RN.
  • Ensures appropriate disposition of supplies, labs, and specimens.
  • Participates in hand off communication and verification process for specimens with laboratory personnel.
  • Ensures linens, scrubs, and other supplies are stocked and maintained.
  • Completes duties within assigned timeframes.
  • Utilizes knowledge of cleaning protocols for all types of specialty surgical equipment.
  • Articulates department goals and metrics for first cases starts and turnover times and contributes ideas for improvement.
