Neurologic Critical Care Unit Neuro Critical Care (NCC) is part of Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The nurses on NCC care for patients suffering from brain injury, aneurysms, and severe strokes. Neuro Critical Care provides emergency services and 24/7 customized and monitored treatments to help patients recover from serious neurological conditions. NCC is a 33-bed unit with a widely diverse neurosurgical, neurotrauma, neuroradiology, and medical neurological patient population, and is one of the largest neurocritical care units in the country. NCC staff care for some of the highest acuity neuro patients in the state and has the highest number of patient days in all the IUH Adult Academic Health Center. Dedication to excellence and quality care measures are of utmost importance to NCC staff and multi-disciplinary teams as evidenced by exceptional quality data. Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
