Location: Eisenberg 35 - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit/Neonatal High Risk Delivery RN Team (Intensive Care) Experienced RN's only/1+ years RN experience/No new graduates RN's. Patient Care Type: Level III NICU Bed #: 24 Nursing Team Roles: The 24-bed family centered care NICU, located on EI35, is comprised of 21 private patient rooms. In this exciting and rewarding position, you will provide exceptional nursing care for NICU patients. You will offer guidance to team members by supervising nursing interventions and assigning related tasks. You will also assess patient, family and staff learning needs, deliver appropriate clinical education and promote effective working relationships. This involves collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of dedicated professionals to develop and implement a care plan, including providing detailed care instructions. Our unit serves a diverse patient population, ranging from premature infants to full-term babies. Our dedicated RNs provide specialized care for infants who: Born premature greater than 30 weeks gestation or weighing greater than 1250 grams Preterm and late preterm infants requiring specialized ICU care Need respiratory support: Infants needing INSURE, nasal CPAP, or high/low flow nasal cannula oxygen Need nutritional support: Emphasis on infant-driven practices, including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, tube feeding, or total parental nutrition Need observation or evaluation of a medical condition May need antibiotic treatment or other short-term therapies Neonatal High Risk Delivery RN Team: Our NICU has a specially trained neonatal high risk delivery team. The team is made up of experienced Eisenberg neonatal intensive care nurses. They attend all high-risk deliveries on the Rochester Methodist Hospital campus and this varies from independent attendance, two RN, RN-RT, NNP and or Neonatologist depending on need. There is a wide variety of delivery where this role assists in all levels of resuscitation and stabilization the neonate. Please note: NICU has a "closed staffing model". RNs are asked to come in extra or take shifts off, depending on patient volume and acuity. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.
