About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Neonatal ICU (NICU) at Madigan Army Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive care to critically ill neonatal patients. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes, performing critical care duties, and maintaining compliance with established standards of care. The position requires a strong knowledge of neonatal care practices and the ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with an Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • At least one year of qualifying experience in the specialty of Neonatal ICU nursing.
  • Current, valid, active, and unrestricted nursing license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider-Advanced certification and STABLE certification, renewed every two years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic fetal/uterine monitoring.
  • Ability to provide charge nurse responsibilities and team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform critical care duties including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-specific nursing care.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
  • Provide comprehensive professional neonatal care to critically ill neonatal patients in the NICU.
