About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at a leading healthcare facility in Rochester, NY. The RN will provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients with complex medical conditions, utilizing advanced life-support technologies in a fast-paced ICU environment.

Requirements

  • Respiratory & Critical Care
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • BiPAP and CPAP management
  • Suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Lines & Monitoring
  • IV therapy
  • Arterial line management
  • Central line care and monitoring
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
  • Cardiac & Hemodynamic Management
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Professional Practice
  • Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Strict adherence to isolation precautions and PPE guidelines
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active New York State RN License
  • BLS and ACLS (required)
  • NIHSS (required or must be obtained)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients with complex and life-threatening conditions
  • Perform continuous patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation of vital signs, neurological status, and hemodynamic parameters
  • Safely administer medications, including IV drips, vasopressors, sedatives, and antibiotics per physician orders
  • Manage and monitor advanced life-support equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, arterial lines, and CRRT systems
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms, laboratory values, ABGs, and diagnostic results; promptly report changes to the care team
  • Perform and assist with bedside procedures, including central line care, arterial line monitoring, and wound care
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Respond to medical emergencies, including rapid responses and code situations
  • Maintain strict infection control standards, isolation precautions, and patient safety protocols
  • Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and end-of-life care when appropriate
  • Accurately document all patient care, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Advocate for patient safety, ethical practice, and compassionate care in high-acuity situations
