About The Position

The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This position exists to plan, direct, provide and assist in the evaluation of total patient care in collaboration with providers. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. This position performs duties associated with direct patient care and quality assurance activities. Assures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs, and ensures medical orders are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. This position performs duties associated with symptom management, and direct in clinic patient care and/or telehealth patient care and quality improvement activities. The nurse adheres to the ANA scope and Standards of professional nursing and the code of ethics for nurses with interpretive statements.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area.
  • Familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
  • Awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities.
