This unit is a 16 bed unit that provides acute care to post-operative and medical interdisciplinary care for adults and general pediatric patients. Conditions and diagnoses most frequently cared for but not limited to include: Women with reproductive system conditions and surgeries, breast surgeries, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy, and hyperemesis. Patients with: pneumonia, cellulitis, gall bladder conditions and/or surgery: Cholecystectomy, ear/nose/throat, appendectomy, bariatric surgeries. Infants and children with: asthma exacerbation, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, hyperbilirubinemia, dehydration, and post-operative care. The RN is responsible for the provision and coordination of patient centered care. The RN coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by delegating and working cooperatively and collaboratively with ancillary nursing and other members of the healthcare team in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice and professional nursing performance in the clinical setting. The RN is also accountable to practice in accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code Act 368 of 1978, Article 15 (Health Occupations), Part 172 (Nursing). The RN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area.
