About The Position

Overview Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the Medical Oncology unit. This is a 36-bed medical-surgical & telemetry unit with a subpopulation of oncology, chemotherapy, and end-of-life care. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice. Program includes: Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines Hands-on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor Opportunity to share your experiences/ networking with peers in a safe, protected environment A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses) . Requirements

• Associates Degree – Nursing OR Bachelor’s Degree - Nursing
• Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
• The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
