The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 10-bed intensive care unit (ICU) that provides care to critically ill medical patients aged 18 years and older. MICU serves as an overflow unit for neuro patients. Procedures and care provided include, but are not limited to: invasive hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, venous thrombolytics, arterial alteplase, ventilator management, arterial line, tracheostomy care (acute and chronic), CRRT utilization, EKOS catheter-directed, ultrasound thrombolysis, and TPE therapy. The position involves providing professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. The nurse acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines.
