About The Position

14AB is a medical unit with 22 beds. Our patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients with varied medical diagnoses including complications from diabetes, pneumonia, cellulitis, encephalopathy, and remote telemetry. We also care for renal and urology surgery patients including those who have had a nephrectomy, prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and those with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI). Any patients admitted to the hospital who require peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatments, have PD care managed by a trained 14AB nurse. This unit supports the growth and learning of new grads. 14AB provides the opportunity to master time management, and a variety of skills such as suprapubic catheter exchange, continuous bladder irrigation, vascath removal and peritoneal dialysis Why You’ll Love Working Here Collaborative, collegial environment with strong nurse‑physician partnerships. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs a various stages of the life cycle
  • RNs with more than 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time acute care experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document initial and ongoing patient/family assessments.
  • Develop, communicate, and update individualized plans of care, including discharge planning.
  • Provide safe, patient‑centered care that supports autonomy, dignity, and diversity.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies and take appropriate clinical action.
  • Carry out physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete assigned care and documentation within required timeframes.
  • Administer medications/treatments safely and perform technical skills per policy.
  • Evaluate patient responses and revise the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately to other team members.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and support training/education of staff and students.
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge and adhere to organizational and departmental standards.
  • Function in relief charge/resource roles as requested.
