About The Position

The 5300 Medical-Surgical Renal/Pulmonary Unit at TriHealth Bethesda North is a 43-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with renal and pulmonary conditions, including COPD exacerbations and dialysis complications. Our diverse patient population provides a dynamic environment that allows nurses to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in a fast-paced environment. We are committed to creating a positive learning atmosphere for both new graduates and experienced nurses. Our team focuses on professional growth, mastering essential skills such as peritoneal dialysis, time management, and delivering compassionate patient care. Nurses on 5300 gain valuable experience and expertise while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team. Nurses are equipped with significant technical knowledge related to the respiratory system, the ability to detect aberrant respiratory functions through auscultation, and a deep understanding of renal clearance and medications. Our unit encourages and supports nurses in obtaining professional certifications, including Medical-Surgical (MED-SURG), Geriatric (GERO-BC), and Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN). Requirements

Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
Registered Nurse
Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs a various stages of the life cycle
RNs with more than 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time acute care experience

Responsibilities

Perform and document initial and ongoing patient/family assessments.
Develop, communicate, and update individualized plans of care, including discharge planning.
Provide safe, patient‑centered care that supports autonomy, dignity, and diversity.
Recognize and respond to emergencies and take appropriate clinical action.
Carry out physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Complete assigned care and documentation within required timeframes.
Administer medications/treatments safely and perform technical skills per policy.
Evaluate patient responses and revise the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately to other team members.
Serve as a clinical resource and support training/education of staff and students.
Maintain current clinical knowledge and adhere to organizational and departmental standards.
Function in relief charge/resource roles as requested.
