About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Med/Surg position at Waynesboro Hospital is a PRN (Per Diem) role that requires providing professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level within an assigned unit. The nurse will coordinate care planning with other disciplines and may require specialized skills depending on the unit assignment. The position involves working night shifts from 1845 to 0715 and includes a commitment to one annual difficult-to-staff shift around holidays. The nurse will be responsible for direct patient care, documentation, and participation in performance improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Diploma Program Required or Associates Degree Required.
• Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required.
• Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required.
• Less than 1 year Relevant experience Required.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors Degree Nursing (BSN) Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates direct care in accordance with the principles of Relationship Based Care to patients based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital.
• Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit and synthesizes patient data to develop outcome-driven plans.
• Safely and independently administers prescribed treatments, medications, and nursing interventions based on assessment and plan of care.
• Organizes and prioritizes time based on patient condition and expected workload.
• Identifies changes in patients' status and acts accordingly.
• Communicates individualized patient needs for inter-shift report and transfer/discharge.
• Collaborates with all disciplines in evaluation of patient progress.
• Documents patient response to interventions and progress toward outcomes.
• Participates in performance improvement efforts and complies with changes in clinical standards and policies.
• Seeks learning opportunities and incorporates new knowledge and skills into practice.
• Promotes an environment conducive to professional practice and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Begins to provide leadership for problem solving and goal formation.
• Delegates aspects of care to other nursing personnel to meet patient needs.
• Promotes collaboration among physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
