About The Position

This position has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The incumbent accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge skills, and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. Performs the duties and responsibilities within the scope of a Registered Nurse (RN) - Level I, II, III, IV, V as defined within the job description. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills at the expert level necessary to provide care that is relevant to the patient(s) under their care, as well as apply principles of growth and development over the life span. The incumbent also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. This role provides professional nursing care for patients in an inpatient hospital setting.

Requirements

  • Master's of Science in Nursing OR Health-related advanced degrees that would assist with direct patient care at the bedside.
  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
  • Seven (7) years of registered nurse experience
  • Specialty Certification in applicable discipline from approved CAPE certification listing
  • Specialty Certification in applicable discipline from approved CAPE certification listing

  • Fosters a culture of lifelong learning and provides resources for interprofessional continuing competency programs.
  • Mediates conflicts, educates, coaches, and facilitates use of external resources.
  • Mentors others, while advancing the profession.
  • Partners with organizational leaders to incorporate the development of organizational orientation/preceptor programs.
  • Demonstrates well developed clinical expertise within specialty.
  • Designs innovative nursing practices.
  • Models expert practice to interprofessional team members and healthcare consumers.
  • Designs and supports programs that facilitate access and provides appropriate point of service care.
  • Advocates for patient, families, and peers.
  • Differentiates outcomes that require care process interventions from those that require system-level actions.
  • Synthesizes results of system wide research leading to clinical understanding.
  • Builds an infrastructure for the collection and analysis of interprofessional health workforce data.
  • Integrates knowledge and experiences to improve community interactions system wide.
  • Promotes policy change or development to identify and reduce disparities regarding health and human rights.
  • Advocates for policies that promote health and prevent harm among culturally diverse, under-served or under-represented consumers.
  • Advances ethical nursing practice through the generation of system-wide policy.
  • Participates and/or leads implementations of structures/processes in practice setting that proactively identify ethical situations and deploy resources.
  • Required competencies to include demonstration of regularly being a charge nurse and/or precepting new staff or nursing students
  • Required competencies to include demonstration of participation in QI and shared governance at the system level
  • Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
