ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH NURSING DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER: Registered Nurses for the Maternal Child Health Units provide care in their selected units: Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care and Inpatient Pediatrics. As a Magnet recognized organization, these nurses provide care to the whole family, ensuring the first few days of care have set the family up for success. DEPARTMENT: Maternal Child Health SCHEDULE: All shifts available POSITION SUMMARY: As an RN in the Maternal Child Health Department, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Maternal Child Health experience required
- Certification in basic life support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
- Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
- Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
- Basic computer proficiency

- Fluency in another language a plus
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
- Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
- Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
- Update and manage patient records
- Enter and interpret computerized data/information
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization
- Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
