About The Position

Registered Nurse Manager - Behavioral Health Unit (Inpatient Facility) We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse Manager to lead our Behavioral Health Unit at LDS Hospital. The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and guiding a multidisciplinary team in a supportive and therapeutic environment. For more than 115 years, LDS Hospital has provided high-quality clinical care, technological progress, exceptional efficiency and extraordinary personal service. This 256-bed facility is located just minutes from downtown Salt Lake City and is integrated with Intermountain's Life Flight air ambulance and TeleHealth Hospital. The hospital also services southern Davis County and Tooele County out to the Utah / Nevada state line. Leadership Specifics: This position will have oversite of the Behavioral Health department which includes our in-patient general unit (28 beds), our high acuity unit (12 beds) as well as our in-patient medical detox unit (12 beds) and our nursing access center. It is a 52 bed department. There is approx. 130 direct reports for this manager. The position is supported by a full-time RN Assistant Manager and a clinical nurse leadership group that supports quality improvement. Shift Details: The Nurse Manager owns the operations of the department 24/7. On site presence is expected 5 days a week, generally Monday through Friday. Business hours are generally 8AM-5PM, however the nurse manager has the flexibility to coordinate schedules with their director so that they can equally spend time with their evening and weekend staff. Engagement with staff to ensure a nursing voice in practice is of top priority for this department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree will be verified).
  • Current Nursing License to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Must complete Intermountain Health's required leadership training and development courses within one year of accepting this leadership position.
  • 2 years clinical experience.
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
