About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse is directly responsible for working collaboratively with providers and other health care staff, providing comprehensive patient care, and works collaboratively with other health/social agencies to provide continuity of care. He/she also has the responsibility for the maintenance and promotion of patient health for patients who receive services through the Genesis Family Health clinic.

Requirements

  • RN / LPN from an accredited school of nursing or college preferred
  • Current Kansas state license required
  • Proficiency in English written and oral communications, Spanish or other languages are also desirable.
  • Experience working in a clinic is preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Must maintain strictest confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations and policies

Responsibilities

  • Assess the immediate and long-term physical, mental, and social health care needs of individuals and families through all forms of communication along with staffing the nurse line on a daily basis.
  • Incorporate age-appropriate principles and consider the cultural and linguistic needs of patients and families to develop a plan of nursing care.
  • Work with the individual and/or family to arrange follow-up care and provide patient education.
  • Provide support to individuals and families during periods of wellness and injury, incorporating as appropriate the medical plan of care.
  • Initiate action by direct contact, by telephone, or referral, according to approved guidelines.
  • Case-manage families as needed to achieve the health care goals.
  • Orient new patients to the Health Center and the delivery of care.
  • Provide nursing services and treatments requiring specialized training, knowledge and skills such as injections, immunizations, respiratory treatments, medication delivery, etc.
  • Monthly vaccination inventory and medications and educate/counsel patients with acute/chronic health problems for the promotion maintenance and restoration of health as deemed appropriate by the supervising provider.
  • Manage the flow of the clinic by previewing schedules, patient charts, and proper triage procedures.
  • Monthly KDHE reporting.
  • Daily activities such as wound care, OB intake, chronic care management and infection control.
  • Help order clinic specific medical supplies, birth control devices, medications etc, as needed.
  • Sterilize procedure tools and equipment as needed.
  • Participate in monthly quality improvement processes.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment as evidenced by documented recommendations to patients and timely communication with providers.
  • Maintain knowledge of programs and resources.
  • Uphold professional ethics for self and responsible and accountable for individual nursing judgments and actions.
  • Adheres to office dress code and standards of behavior.
  • Participate in all meetings and conferences as required, as well as participate in community screening events as required.
  • Ability to forge positive working relationships with our patients.
