About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse at Carolinas Medical Center, specifically within the Central VAT department. The role is full-time, requiring 32 hours per week, with a schedule of Monday to Friday consisting of four 8-hour shifts. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus based on eligibility. The nurse will be responsible for identifying expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plans, implementing these plans, and coordinating all aspects of care delivery. Education and counseling will be provided to patients and their families regarding health needs, healthcare activities, immunization requirements, and medication effects. The nurse will also meet the specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients, recognize medication incompatibilities, and perform facility acuity coding to ensure proper documentation in patients' medical records.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the applicable state required.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in IV therapy, bone marrow, spinals, thoracenteses, paracenteses, and phlebotomy preferred.
  • Oncology certification preferred.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plan.
  • Implements identified treatment plan and coordinates all aspects of care delivery.
  • Provides education and counseling to patient and family members regarding identified health needs, health care activities, immunization requirements, medication effects and contraindications.
  • Meets specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients by using knowledge and expertise.
  • Recognizes medication mid-solution incompatibilities and factors affecting stability.
  • Performs facility acuity coding by selecting the appropriate level of service for a diverse patient population.
  • Ensures that all pertinent clinical information is documented in the patient's medical record and supports the level of service selected.
