About The Position

This role plays a critical part in advancing that vision by strengthening the skills and confidence of our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). The Medication Administration Trainer provides consistent, high-quality medication administration training across Living Well programs. This role is responsible for developing and delivering an in-house medication administration curriculum that meets regulatory requirements and addresses the learning needs of a diverse workforce, including employees with varying language needs and learning abilities. Working in close partnership with Human Resources, Nursing, and Program departments, the trainer ensures staff learning and development align with program needs, organizational values, and Living Well’s mission-driven commitment to the people we support. This is a grant-funded position through June 2027, anticipated at approximately 25 hours per week, with a mix of daytime and possibility of evening hours to meet staff training needs.

Requirements

  • Strong training and facilitation skills, with experience working with diverse learners and learning styles
  • Comfort using multiple instructional approaches, including classroom teaching, small groups, and individualized instruction
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Experience developing and managing curriculum related to medication administration in residential settings (245D and/or ICF)
  • Excellent organizational, project management, scheduling, and time-management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Reliable, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficiency with standard office technology and organizational systems
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Must pass a DHS background check and maintain compliance with applicable regulations

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement an in-house medication administration training curriculum for Direct Support Professionals and related roles
  • Deliver training using a variety of methods, including classroom instruction, small group facilitation, one-on-one coaching, and skills modeling
  • Ensure training content aligns with DHS regulations and program requirements (245D, ICF/DD, Positive Support Rule, etc.)
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources, Nursing, and Program departments to meet organizational training needs
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and in a timely manner with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate as an active organizational team member by attending meetings, trainings, and providing backup support as needed
  • Foster a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive environment for employees, vendors, and people supported
  • Utilize organizational systems for communication, scheduling, record keeping, payroll, and reporting (e.g., SharePoint, Therap, Outlook, MITC, ADP)
