JOB SUMMARY Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards. Our unit specializes in caring for women throughout the childbearing cycle. Low and High-Risk Obstetrical patients are evaluated and treated in Labor and Delivery during all phases of the childbearing cycle for management of a variety of clinical conditions. We care for healthy mothers with well babies, as well as for mothers with complex diseases and high-risk pregnancies such as: preeclampsia, diabetes, multiple gestation, and fetal anomalies. Our focus is on creating a family-centered environment with a firm belief that patient safety should always come first. We involve our patients and their families in our bedside assessments and reports, as we strive to keep our patients involved as the most important member of the healthcare team.
