About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (Part Time-Days) Our ideal candidate will provide a safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. They work alongside other medical staff to ensure a safe and smooth delivery process, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with epidurals, and providing support during childbirth. In addition to their clinical responsibilities, labor and delivery nurses also have the role of educating and supporting parents about newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery after childbirth. They are an essential source of emotional support, comforting and guiding patients through what can be both a joyful and stressful experience. They answer questions, address fears, and empathize with the expectant mother throughout the journey.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • ACLS, NRP (or obtained within three months of employment)
  • BLS
  • DC RN License
  • Fetal Monitoring and Training Basic Dysrhythmia Class
  • Requirements specified for specialty unit
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
