About The Position

The Maternity/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly and is also individualized to a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The Maternity/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice. The Maternity/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility is health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve. The Maternity/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse, within the parameters of his/her generic and continuing education experience, may delegate nursing acuities to other registered nurses and/or health care personnel, provided that the delegating Registered Nurse shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the patient outcomes. The Maternity/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse must have excellent assessment skills, clinical skills, organizational skills, and computer knowledge and charge capabilities. The Maternity/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse must be able to lift, transfer and move patients. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language. Able to complete mathematical computations required to perform treatment protocols.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required.
  • Previous RN experience required.
  • Labor & delivery experience preferred.
  • Current RN MA license required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized care to patients from infant to elderly.
  • Address specific needs related to impairments such as hearing, sight, and substance abuse.
  • Incorporate knowledge of patient rights and organizational values into nursing practice.
  • Assume full responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided.
  • Engage in health maintenance, teaching, counseling, and collaborative planning.
  • Delegate nursing tasks to other registered nurses and health care personnel as appropriate.
  • Maintain excellent assessment, clinical, and organizational skills.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Perform mathematical computations required for treatment protocols.
