IR nurses at Springfield Memorial Hospital care for a wide variety of patients—from ambulatory outpatients undergoing minor procedures to critically ill inpatients requiring complex, time-sensitive interventions such as stroke. This role requires a strong clinical foundation, exceptional critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions. Unlike ICU or ED nursing, the IR environment offers intense clinical engagement one patient at a time, allowing the nurse to focus deeply while supporting a high-turnover workflow. As part of a Magnet hospital, IR nurses are expected to embrace lifelong learning, uphold high standards of clinical excellence, and consistently exceed patient experience expectations.
