The successful candidate: Involved in the assessment, planning, and care of patients who undergo diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures. Provides nursing support to technologists in all radiology modalities as needed. Telemetry - Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and institute appropriate interventions. Knowledge of appropriate anatomy, particularly peripheral anatomy. Knowledge of coronary and peripheral blood vessels and blood flow (venous and arterial). Completion of Chemotherapy HealthStream bundle before completion of nursing orientation. Administer medications via all routes, using the 6 rights, medication bar scanner and monitoring patient for side effects. Ability to collect blood specimens and blood cultures. Administer and monitor blood products safely. Ability to care for patients with IV lines, central lines and ports. Administers and monitors patients undergoing sedation/analgesia per physician order and hospital protocol. Responsible and accountable for providing nursing leadership to non-licensed staff as demonstrated by prescribing and coordinating nursing care for optimum patient outcomes. Knowledge of interventional, and non-interventional, radiologic procedures to include proper techniques, symptom management, complication intervention, anesthesia documentation, and consequent nursing interventions to include basic radiation safety techniques.
