The RN - Wound & Ostomy is responsible for assessing, planning, promoting and evaluating quality patient care. The Wound & Ostomy Nurse provides acute and rehabilitative care to people with gastrointestinal (GI), genitourinary (GU), and integumentary (skin) system wounds and disorders. They also provide direct care to people with abdominal stomas, wounds, fistulas, drains, pressure injuries, and/or continence disorders. Utilizing the nursing process in accordance with the standards established by the State Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for nurses, ANA Standards of Care and the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of MVHS. The Wound & Ostomy Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates wound, ostomy and continence care throughout hospital areas to provide optimal patient care. May provide consulting to other MVHS affiliates. Works under the direction of the Education Services Manager or designee.
