About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. This posting will fill several Registered Nurse (RN) positions across all shifts within Infusion Services at the Cancer Institute. The RN will provide direct patient care, coordinate care for patients, triage patients, and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. This role requires the ability to effectively work with patient referral sources, facilitate appointments, coordinate transitions of care, and provide patient education on complex conditions. The RN will also work with individual patients, their families, and providers of care to develop and implement individual health plans.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
  • Valid Arkansas RN License
  • Minimum of 1 year Registered Nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adhere to institutional policies, procedures and standards.
  • Adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient populations with support and mentoring by other team members.
  • Collect and document assessment data.
  • Develop a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
  • Implement POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach.
  • Evaluate the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Provide effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Administer medication per standard including drug information to patients/families.
  • Act as a resource/support others.
  • Deliver patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
  • Delegate care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.
  • Interact with, and assist, the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills; communicate accurate and complete information; maintain strict confidentiality when necessary.
  • Demonstrate positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follow the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders, as needed, with exceptional customer service.
