About The Position

Registered Nurse providing high quality nursing care for hematology/oncology patients and family members for a patient population within the Infusion Center.

Requirements

Current Connecticut nursing license
Current OCN Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card (or within first month of hire)
BLS certification
Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills

Nice To Haves

Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC) - Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate excellent ability to perform patient assessments, and provide symptom management as well as patient and family education
Practice safe administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy, infusions, and injections in accordance with protocols and guidelines
Assess and monitor patients during and after infusion therapy
Act as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up
Triage infusion patients in collaboration with providers for symptom management, toxicity assessment and needs for referrals within the RN scope of practice
Assess learning needs and educates the patient and family in disease process, chemotherapy treatment plan, side effects, and side effect management.
Document patient information, treatment plans, and progress in electronic medical records
Able to multi-task and manage a complex workload effectively to provide safe, high quality patient care
Participate and engage in continuous professional development, safety behaviors and focus on the patient experience
Communicate and work collaboratively with the patient, family and health care team members to develop and implement patient care
Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with Starling Physicians policy.
