About The Position

The role of the Registered Nurse reports to the Clinic Nurse Manager in partnership with the Clinic Providers. This position provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic infectious conditions. This position supports infectious disease physicians and advanced practice providers by coordinating patient care, performing clinical procedures, educating patients, and ensuring safe and effective infection control practices within the clinic.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention practices and clinical safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients who have complex infectious and immunocompromised conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
  • Previous ambulatory or clinic experience preferred.
  • Experience in infectious disease, infusion, or chronic disease management, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and medication lists.
  • Prepare and assist patients for examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and therapeutic injections as ordered.
  • Perform specimen collection (blood, cultures, swabs) and ensure proper handling and transport.
  • Provide patient education regarding infection prevention, medication adherence, follow up care, and chronic disease management.
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship efforts by reconciling medications and monitoring potential interactions.
  • Coordinate scheduling of follow up visits, diagnostic testing, infusion services, and specialty consultations.
  • Triage patient calls using established protocols, including urgent symptoms related to infectious diseases.
  • Communicate test results to patients and provide additional instruction or escalation as needed.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies, including PPE use, room sanitation, isolation precautions, and safe handling of biohazard materials.
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership and cross functional teams to support workflow efficiency, regulatory compliance, and patient safety initiatives.
